Blizzard files lawsuit against private server
We've talked about private servers on the site here before, but in case you haven't heard the term: they're unofficial servers, very much against WoW's
Terms of Use, that are run by companies other than Blizzard. They're
shady as get out -- some make you pay (and these are not people you'd
ever want to give any credit card information to), some will delete or
change characters on a regular basis, and many times they're created
just so whoever's running them can mess around with GM powers, and cheat with any items they want.
The complaint lists copyright infringement as the cause, which means they're probably using the same argument targeted at other private servers
in the past. We'll keep an eye on this, but it's very likely Blizzard
will win this one unopposed, and Scapegaming (or at least just their WoW server) will get shut down for good.
They are suing Scapegaming not 2bitgaming So server will still be up, its a matter of time when they ganna start sending letters to other privet servers. Like i said if they win (wich probably ganna happen) on scapegaming, they will start sending those letters to privet servers to be shutted down. But as far as i know, 2bitgaming will see be up, its not related to scapegaming, thats what GM said on vent. but we will see.....
Just get it out of ur heads, play the game and enjoy it, let staff deal with drama xD
Sam, let me know what you think, but it looks like this is pretty much it for Scape. They can't technically win this suit. There's no way. So it's just a matter of what happens to them. Either way.. right the server is unstable and being screwed and it looks like blizz is ready to take it down.
Those "other" servers should probably come into play here pretty quick.
